Your slow odyssey will expore Puglia's sun kissed villages along the Adriatic and Ionian seas and complex cultural history. Puglia has some of the most unique architecture in Europe, including the trulli houses of Alberobello and cave homes in Matera, both UNESCO sites. Puglia is known as the breadbasket of Italy, producing more olive oil than any other region and many other agricultural products.

Puglia is the heel of the boot in Italy offering a coastline of pristine white sand beaches and an interior of rolling hills with olive orchards, vineyards, sheep and quaint villages, including the ancient cave town of Matera, baroque Lecce and the trulli houses of Alberobello.

UNESCO Villages of Puglia

Puglia has many small villages that can be experienced at a leisurely pace. The UNESCO Sassi of Matera, village center built on top of ancient cave dwellings, including the church with 13th century cave paintings of biblical stories.The Trulli of Alberobello is a charming UNESCO site of prehistoric round white houses with conical roofs.

For us to go to Italy and to penetrate into Italy is like a most fascinating act of self-discovery.

The ancient Sassi of Matera, originally settled during the paleolithic area, is a UNESCO world heritage site consisting of houses, churches, monasteries and hermitages built into the caves of the canyon landscape. It is a magical adventure in itself to walk up and down the labyrinth of stone streets in this amazing part of Italy.

Culinary Traditions of Puglia

Puglia has been a agricultural region of over a millennia with durum wheat, fava beans, fennel, tomatoes, etc. It is also nourished by abundant seafood. The pasta specialty, orrechiette or small ear-shapped shells are produced by hand.

You may have the universe, if I may have Italy.

Cost includes lodging, land transportation, ferry transport, all breakfasts, meals as indicated in itinerary, gentle early morning chair yoga and meditation when time and setting are appropriate, odyssey guide, local guides, entrance fees. Small group experience, max 10 people.
