Nature is our teacher, if we listen deeply enough. Nature moves slowly and turtles move very slowly. Turtles were in existence over 230 miillion years ago. This turtle family reminds us how to appreciate and savor the world we live in, how to live in tranquility and peace. They teach us to move slow and steady, rest, trust our intuition and recognize that we will reach our goal.
Our new odysseys will be offered over a longer time period, approximately 12 days or longer and very likely lodge at only one or two places in a destination country. We will walk, utilize trains, buses, boats and ferries, and electric vehiles as much as possible. This facilitates a reduction in our carbon footprint on the environment. Slow travel is sustainable travel. It is imperative that those of us who love to learn and explore the world do it in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner."Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished." Lao Tzu
Our slow odysseys offer gentle support for more free time, encouraging you to experience serendipity or random encounters with a deeper and more respectful connection to people.
You can learn a great deal from people in small local businesses, creating deeper a understanding of the culture you are in. Imagine shopping for food at a local outdoor market, sampling local street food and learning the history of it, stopping at a local cafe for tea or coffee, taking the time to visit an artist studio, and learning about products unique to a particular region like argan oil at a Moroccan women's co-op."Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may become friends." Maya Angellou
Blue Bee Odysseys provides an opening for transformative experiences by traveling slowly and mindfully. We journey to places off the beaten track, avoiding over-tourism. We encourage you to distance yourself from the digital world, and create space internally for transformation.
Be open to meaningful dialogues with local people and you may be surprised with what you learn and perhaps appreciate the humor of the message received. We are not so different from one another.
Create some time alone to be contemplative and clear your mind. Experience a mindful walk in nature, allowing it to heal and transform you. Return home rested, revitalized and more connected to yourself."The journey changes you. It should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousnes, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you... Hopefully, you leave something good behind." Anthony Bourdain
